When a medical emergency involves a child, choosing the right hospital can mean the difference between life and death. Lutheran Hospital specializes in pediatric emergencies.
The emergency department offers exam rooms designed to make a child feel physically and emotionally comfortable, as well as pediatric critical care and resuscitation rooms.
When a child arrives with a traumatic injury, medical and surgical pediatric specialists and a pediatric intensive care nurse are available to participate in the child's care. Lutheran Hospital's emergency physicians are board certified in emergency medicine with special training in pediatric emergency care and resuscitation.
Critical Care Transport
When transport is needed, whether by ground or by air, Lutheran Hospital's Critical Care Transport Team is ready to provide exceptional pediatric care. The transport team includes a registered nurse and paramedic certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, as well as a respiratory therapist and emergency medical technician.
Newborns and babies who weigh less than 10 pounds are transported in a temperature controlled isolette and are accompanied by a neonatal intensive care nurse and respiratory therapist, in addition to a neonatologist when necessary.
